David L. Andersen

David L. Andersen focuses his practice on criminal defense matters in both state and federal courts, and also represents plaintiffs in personal injury and wrongful death actions. Born, raised and educated in the Bay Area, Mr. Andersen is readily familiar with the local prosecutors, judges and court system in this area.

With a legal career spanning nearly four decades, and extensive trial experience, Mr. Andersen provides creative and effective legal representation to his clients. In recognition of his work and standing in the legal community, Mr. Andersen has attained the highest possible peer-review rating of "AV" from Martindale-Hubbell, the national directory of attorneys, indicating preeminent legal ability and the highest ethical standards. In addition, Mr. Andersen was selected as a Northern California Super Lawyer in 2007.

Mr. Andersen received his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of California at Berkeley in 1968 and his Juris Doctor degree from University of California Berkeley School of Law - Boalt Hall in 1971. He was admitted to practice in the State of California in 1972 and is also admitted to appear before the U.S. District Court, Northern District of California and the U.S. Court of Appeals, Ninth Circuit. Mr. Andersen is a member of the State Bar of California, the Alameda County Bar Association, and the California Attorneys for Criminal Justice.

Mr. Andersen has written and lectured on various state and federal criminal law topics for many years. Many of these lectures have focused on the defense of cases where there the Government is seeking the death penalty. Other topics have included effective jury selection, developments in criminal law, defending the impossible case, and final argument.
